Looking for skills, knowledge, and resources to support a family member, friend, or colleague who is experiencing a mental health challenge? Get trained in Mental Health First Aid.
The course provides a practical action plan for responding to, and supporting, an individual at any point during a mental health challenge. Participants in the training learn how to:
- Recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge
- Approach, assess and assist someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis
- Refer a person to appropriate professional support for a mental health challenge
- Care for yourself while supporting a person who is experiencing a mental health challenge

FAQs
How long does the training take?
Mental Health First Aid is delivered in a blended virtual format. Participants complete a two-hour self-paced course prior to attending a seven-hour live training via Zoom.
Will I receive a certification for completing this training?
Yes. Upon completion of the course, you will achieve a certification in Adult Mental Health First Aid. This certification is valid for three years.
Can I arrange a training specifically for my department?
Yes. Mental Health First Aid training for individual departments, labs, centers, and institutes can be arranged for groups of 10 or more. Email Kristen Cascio for more information.
