Disability Services & Leaves

MIT is committed to the principle of equal opportunity and to providing effective and reasonable accommodations to employees with documented disabilities, as well as supporting employees during times when they may need to be away from work due to a life event or medical need.

At MIT, employees seeking assistance with disability services and all medical leaves, planned and unplanned, are assisted by the  MIT Disabilities Services and Medical Leaves Office (DSMLO)

The DSMLO coordinates accommodations for campus events. Event planners are encouraged to learn about available services and request assistance for upcoming events.

MIT provides paid leaves to most employees when they are unable to work due to injury, serious health conditions, or maternity. Eligible employees may also take paid leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition or for bonding with a new child.

If you are an MIT employee seeking accommodations for a documented disability, learn what to do and how to receive assistance.

MIT employees with a temporary disability may request a parking accommodation on campus.
